2015 Brun Avril Châteauneuf de Pape
A hearty alternative to the Napa Cabernet, Châteauneuf De Pape is famous for its powerful full bodied reds made predominately from Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre. The famed soils are from pebbly stones known as galets formed from ancient riverbeds. This is a uniquely Syrah dominant blend, setting this wine apart from neighboring producers. The wine gives layers of fruits, herbs and cured meats that each offer a food pairing mecca.
The wine is powerful and robust full of dark fruit and some spice. It will work well with all meats but can also pair with a spicier meal due to its blend of Syrah (hello pepper steak sauce)!
